Withnail film put Grant off meat
Actor Richard E Grant has revealed that working on 1980s cult film Withnail and I put him off eating meat.
The killing of a chicken on the Withnail set turned Grand into a vegetarian, although he now eats fish.
“It was gruesome. The chicken they used in one scene was decapitated and used later - it put me off.”
Grant was attending the UK premiere of Food, Inc, the 2008 film which looks at the US food industry and the major corporations involved in it.
Stella McCartney and Eric Schlosser, author of Fast Food Nation, were also present at the launch.
