Technocracy
New Year has always been a time for reflecting on the past and, more importantly, looking forward to the coming year. It is a time to consider the changes we want or need to make and to follow through on those changes.
Many people seem to live for the one and only purpose of earning as much money as possible in order to be able to buy as many things as possible. In this light, it is hardly surprising that discussions about potential solutions are lost. Successful managers need to inspire enthusiasm and commitment. They need to enhance performance and productivity. Our capability depends on the astute use of interpersonal, motivation and communication skills.
2010 is a perfect time to define the manager's role, understanding different behavioural patterns and managing diversity and equality. It is also about respectful delegation and supervision, honing your leadership activities and communication skills and techniques. On top of that it is about building loyalty and rewarding achievements, appraising and developing an effective employee, managing for improved performance and using time effectively. Happy New Year to all and remember, luck does not come into it.
