Just over half the bacon eaten in the UK – 55%– is imported with much of it coming from Denmark and Holland. Just less than 220,000 tonnes is produced by the UK while nearly 120,000 tonnes goes into the foodservice sector, much of it destined for the great British breakfast, of course.
