Meat - Lamb

Consumers eat on average 5.8 kg of lamb a year in the UK, which is the biggest exporter of sheep meat in the EU. It is also the largest producer at 325,000 tonnes. There are nearly 24 million sheep in the UK. More than 70 per cent of the 110,000 tonnes imported comes from New Zealand, which is the world’s biggest exporter at some 360,000 tonnes a year.
